The principal dutes for volunteers are greeting collectors who stop by, answering philatelic questions and soliciting new members. New members are typically solicted by explaining the benefits of membership, which include The Texas Philatelist, auctions, buying and selling stamps through the OPS Sales Division, our annual meetings at TEXPEX, and so forth. Volunteers may also be asked to register collectors for door prizes, accept auction lots and sell books. To minimize turnover, volunteers are asked to help out a minimum of two hours. Volunteers must be members of the Texas Philatelic Association (or spouses of members). To volunteer, take these three easy steps:

STEP 1 If you plan to attend any meetings, seminars or other functions, make sure they are not in conflict with the times you volunteer for.

STEP 2 Take a look at the volunteer schedule and check out the areas of greatest need. The times on the schedules are color-coded with yellow denoting volunteers are needed, and green indicating sufficient volunteers have been obtained. Red indicates the show dates are close and there have been no volunteers for a particular time. Volunteers should arrive early at the Exhibition Hall in order to pick up badges and receive instructions. This schedule will be updated frequently.
