NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR UPCOMING TPA ELECTION
Nominations are now open to candidates for officers of the Texas Philatelic Association for 2012-2014. Also available are
three seats the TPA’s board of directors and two positions on the Texas Philatelic Association Foundation board of trustees,
all for 2012-2016 terms.
Each prospect should prepare a written statement signifying his or her willingness to run for a specific office and attach
thereto a short biography. A form for the purpose is available by clicking here.
The necessary information must be submitted to Arthur P. von Reyn, TPA Secretary, P.O. Box 1622, Dallas, TX 75356-1622 by October 1, 2011.
VINCE KING NAMED DISTINGUISHED PHILATELIC TEXAN; JOHN H. BARWIS NABS 2011 TEXPEX GRAND Arthur Vinson "Vince" King of Denton, Texas, has been named the the 2011 Distingushed Philatelic Texan. The award, the Texas Philatelic Association's highest honor, was conferred on April 16 at the TEXPEX stamp show, held in Dallas, Texas. Winning the Forcheimer Philatelic Literature award, for the best article to appear in The Texas Philatelist during 2010, was Ray E. Cartier of Arlington, Texas, for his "The Life and Death of the Space Shuttle Columbia" that appeared in the May-June and July-August issues. The TEXPEX Grand Award winner was John H. Barwis, for his exhibit titled "The Path to a Philadelphia Exhange Office for United States-British Mails." TEXAS PHILATELIC ASSOCIATION ACCEPTS MASTERCARD AND VISA!
The Texas Philatelic Association now accepts Mastercard and Visa for payment of dues and donations from new member applicants and current members. This
convenient option is available for mailed payments as well as those made through this website. Of course, your personal check is still welcome!
OPS SALES CIRCUITS NOW AVAILABLE TO TPA MEMBERS!
Members of the Texas Philatelic Association are now eligible to participate in the Sales Division of the Oklahoma Philatelic
Society (OPS). Membership in the OPS is not required for TPA members to buy or sell stamps. See the September/October 2007 edition
of The Texas Philatelist for more details, then click on the OPS icon at right to participate.

TPA/OPS SUMMER AUCTION 2011 NOW UNDERWAY!
The TPA/OPS Summer Auction 2011 has begun. There are 71 lots in this auction which features predominately United States material. Do check out the foreignt lots, however, as there are a number of unusual items. TEXAS PHILATELIC ASSOCIATION TO MANAGE TEXPEX STAMP SHOW During a special Internet meeting of the TPA board of directors on June 7, a resolution was adopted that effective on that date, the Texas Philatelic Association would assume responsibility for the TEXPEX stamp show from the Collectors Club of Dallas, accept a $10,000.00 donation from the Collector Club of Dallas for initial funding of future TEXPEX stamp shows as well as ownership of exhibit frames used for previous shows, form a permanent committee to manage TEXPEX stamp shows and open a separate checking account to manage funds for TEXPEX stamp shows. TPA Second Vice President was named to chair the permanent committee. Further information on this development will be posted when available.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TPA TABLE AT GREATER HOUSTON SHOW!
Help spread the word about the TPA! Simply volunteer to staff the TPA Booth at the Greater Houston Stamp Show, September 16-18, 2011, in Humble, Texas.
