AWARDS & HONORS

The Texas Philatelic Association makes available a number of awards to recognize achivements in service to the organization and in the broad field of philately. Currently active awards are:

Individual Awards

• Forcheimer Philatelic Literature Award


Given annually for outstanding original articles appearing in the TPA's journal, The Texas Philatelist.
• Honorary Membership

Awarded occasionally in recognition of outstanding service to the TPA.
• Distinguished Philatelic Texan Award

Outstanding members of the TPA have been honored since 1974 as Distinguished Philatelic Texans. Candidates must be members in good standing of the TPA and must distinguish themselves in at least two of the following catagories: service to TPA, contributions to the science of philately, contributions to Texas postal history, service to organized philately, service for philatelic exhibitions, and recognition by other philatelic organizations.

Exhibition Awards

• Texas Philatelic Association Award

Given at the TEXPEX stamp show, and at chapter or unit shows, for best exhibit by a TPA member.
• TEXPEX Medals and Awards

Medals and the Grand Award and Reserve Grand Award are provided for the TEXPEX stamp show.
• The Cryer Cup
- Presented at TEXPEX for the best exhibit of 19th century U.S. material.
• Texas Series Award

Given to the exhibitor having the best display in any stamp show sponsored by a TPA chapter or unit during the year. All the winners receive free entry in the TEXPEX stamp show.

Chapter/Unit Award

• Donald P. Spaulding Trophy

Presented to the TPA chapter or unit whose members recruit the most new TPA new members during a year.
